Man, 30, appears in court for allegedly biting police officer

A 30-year-old man, Israel Sunday, on Friday appeared before an Osogbo Magistrates Court for alleged biting a police officers fingers.
Sunday of no fixed address was arraigned for assaulting a police officer.

Prosecutor Isiaka Ajadi told the court that the accused committed the offence on Sept.4 at about 9 a.m. at Orita-Olaiya Area of Osogbo in Osun.
Ajadi said, the accused allegedly bit one Hamzat Adebayo, a police officer with Force Number 8073GI, after he cautioned the accused over his wrong approach to road use.
He descended on the police officer and bit his left fingers after which he was rushed to a hospital in the vicinity, the prosecutor said.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 355 and 356 of the Criminal Code of Osun, 2003.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Counsel to the accused, Mr Ragenous Ugwu, urged the court to grant bail to his client in liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mr Olusola Aluko, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Aluko said that the sureties must reside within the courts jurisdiction, show evidence of tax payment and deposed to an affidavit of means.
