Terror Alert: Police, Others Scamper For Safety As Tyre Explodes

There was pandemonium in Ikeja, capital of Lagos State, yesterday when a vehicle tyre that exploded causes police and civilians to scamper for safety.

An eyewitness, a police sergeant attached to the state police command headquarters, said even people in the office had to rush out to know, if Boko Haram sect had come to attack the police at the command.

The sergeant said they thought it was a bomb that went off in the area.

He said they all breathed a sigh of relief when they discovered that the tyre of a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) was what exploded and not a bomb.

A woman, who identified herself as Mama Kudi , said she was at the POWA Mammy market when the accident occurred.

She said immediately she heard the sound, she screamed the name of her daughter to know where she was.

She said people at the POWA Mammy market and police barracks at the back of the headquarters also ran out to know what happened. She thanked God that it was explosion of a tyre.
