Police Arrest Clergy, Woman For Alleged Murder Of Her Kids


A Senior Apostle (names withheld) of a new generation church in Abraka, Ethiope East local government of Delta State and a mother of two children allegedly killed by a spiritual liquid are now cooling their heels in police net for alleged murder.

Confirming the incident, Police public relations officer, DSP Celestina Kalu, said police got information that the mother of the victims residing in Urhuoka, Abraka, killed her two children aged nine months and two years by giving them a liquid substance (Blessed Water) allegedly given to her by the pastor of her church after a prayer session for healing purposes.
DSP Kalu said upon the confession of the woman, the said pastor was arrested and the interrogation that followed, the pastor said the liquid contains water and salt he sells to members at N1,850 for healing of various ailments after prayers.
Meanwhile, two suspected members of different car snatching armed robbery gang have been arrested by police in Warri and Abraka area of Delta State after a gun duel.
DSP Celestina Kalu said, based on a report by one of the victims, the police stormed the scene and on sighting police, the four-man opened fire on them. In the ensuing gun battle, one of the suspects was shot and arrested while others escaped with bullet wounds.
Also at Abraka, the police nabbed a suspected notorious car snatcher while on stop and search at the police station junction in the town.
She said immediately the two suspects driving a Camry car were flagged down, one of them jumped down and escaped while the other was arrested.
DSP Kalu said AK 47 rifles, ammunition and other exhibits were recovered from while its operatives are on top gear to arrest the fleeing member of the two gangs who escaped.
