Obasanjo Destroyed Zoning Agreement Adamu Ciroma

A former minister of finance and a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mallam Adamu Ciroma yesterday accused former President Olusegun Obasanjo and other PDP leaders of truncating the zoning agreement just to support President Goodluck Jonathan.

The elder statesman who disclosed this while featuring as the guest of the week on Liberty Radio monitored in Kaduna said former President Obasanjo presided over the meeting where it was agreed that power be rotated between the north and south.
He however, expressed surprise at the sudden change of mind following the death of former President Umaru Musa Yaradua, adding that this insincerity on the part of leaders made him to lose interest in Nigerian politics.
He said, he lost interest in the political affairs of the country and the ruling party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because the party leaders, instead of agreeing on somebody from the north to complete YarAduas term, they all ensured that Jonathan become the President and since the leaders departed from this agreement, he said he lost interest in the politics of the country.
I was there when the party was moving the presidency between the north and the south. And this president was there when General Obasanjo presided over the agreement in the PDP which agreed that the movement of the president from north to south should be based on two terms. President Obasanjo did his two terms on behalf of the south, and YarAdua was doing his first term on behalf of the north but unfortunately he died, he said.
