Kidnap: Police Kill 3 In Delta

Determined to rid the state of all forms of criminal activities, a combined team of police and anti-kidnap squad operative in Ogwashi-Uku community near Asaba, Delta State, have smashed a gang of kidnappers, killing three, who were alleged to have abducted an octogenarian, Rangers Okafor, from his house around Idumu-Aku Quarters in the community about three weeks ago.

It was reliably gathered that the kidnappers met their waterloo around Ogbe-Ofor Quarters, Ogwashi-uku, at the weekend where they were said to have been holding the said Okafor hostage in an uncompleted building after abducting him.
Competent sources said that the polices anti-kidnap operative, had laid siege around the bush within the area the kidnappers had directed the children of the kidnapped victim to keep the ransom , unaware of the police strategies.
DSP Celestina Kalu, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, confirmed that while the kidnapped victims children were making frantic effort to drop the money as instructed at the point, the police detectives immediately swung into action to close in, on the kidnapped suspects; a situation that saw the kidnappers moving into their base, which resulted In a gun battle.
At the end of the battle, three kidnappers were killed withe three others arrested.
DSP Kalu said that the three suspected kidnappers are helping the police with further investigation and would be charged to court soon.
