HOMICIDE: Man Remanded For Killing Friend Over Bicycle


A 30-year-old farmer, Haruna Mohammed of Shireke village, Kaiama in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, who allegedly killed his friend over a bicycle has been charged to court for culpable homicide.
The trial Magistrate ordered the accused to be remanded at the Federal Prisons in Ilorin, having appeared before it on a one-count charge of culpable homicide, contrary to section 221 of Penal Code Law.

The accused was alleged to have on June 26, 2014 hacked his friend to death in order to inherit his bicycle and his farm.
The policemen at Kaiama divisional headquarters arrested the accused following a complaint by one Sadiq Tori Musa of Woro village that while he was in his house, one Ibrahim Zaki told him the 52-year-old deceased, Abubakar Dankanu was found dead in his hut.
According to the complainant, when he got to the deceaseds house, he discovered deep cuts all over his head.
The long arm of the law caught up with the accused when a team of police and vigilante arrested him along Shireke via Woro village, off Kaiama with the deceaseds bicycle.
The accused was said to have confessed that the Nokia handset and some clothes found in his possession belonged to the deceased.
