Chimnumezis mother, Mrs Nkiruka
Niger Delta Voice gathered that the deceased, who hailed from Omuogbo, Ibaa, also in Emohua local government area, accompanied a friend to Ovogo community to intercede in a dispute between his friends sister and some boys in the town.
Violence: Our source said Chimnumeze, who proceeded with his friend to Ovogo barely after he returned from Port-Harcourt on the ill-fated day, entered the compound, where his friends sister was residing with the boys, and was sitting on the pavement when one of them pounced on him with a cutlass.
His words, It was obvious that they did not come to fight, he came with his friend to intervene in the matter between his sister and some boys. He had just entered the compound when one of the boys made for a cutlass and attacked him where he was sitting.
It was learned that other members of the group joined in attacking him and his friend and in the ensuing fracas, Chimnumezi was killed.
Im dazed Father
The deceaseds father, Mr. John Wokoma, who is a member of Ibaa vigilante, said the news of the brutal murder of his son came to him as a shock, explaining that his son was in the house when his friend came to call him to follow him to visit his sister at Ovogo. My son does not have any problem with the people that killed him. I pity the people that killed my son because I will ensure that justice and punishment is meted out accordingly. Can you imagine, just that my son followed somebody for a visit, the next thing we heard after he did not return that night, on Monday morning, was that my son is dead.
The boy in question who took my son to Ovogo for the visit attested that the boys whom he took my son to see over a disagreement that ensued between them and his sister attacked them.
Search party: I thought it was not a serious issue, so as a law abiding citizen of the land, I involved the police and men of the Joint Task Force, JTF. When we got to Ovogo, through investigation, we found out that the boys killed by son and buried him without anybodys notice, he asserted.
Mr. Wokoma said after it was confirmed that boys assassinated his son, The problem now became, if he has been killed and buried as alleged by some informants, then where was he buried?
So the police officers in their intelligence were able to trace the drops of blood to a direction, right at a dustbin, they discovered the legs of a buried corpse.
They alerted us that they have seen the corpse, so we looked for some young men who tied rope on the remains of my son and dragged it out of the hole, where he has been buried by his killers. Truly the boys killed my son and buried him, he bemoaned.
They murdered my only child Bereaved mother
Chimnumezis mother, Mrs Nkiruka, who was stunned by the incident, said the deceased was her only son.
She swore that the boys, who conspired and killed her only child, would not go unpunished and pleaded with government to bring the culprits to book without much ado.
