Death: Protest In FUPRE Over Death Of Student

There was pandemonium at the Federal University of Petroleum, Effurun (FUPRE), yesterday as angry students protesting the death of a 400-level Computer Science student, Lateef Babatunde, who was shot by unknown gunmen shut down the university.
Many were denied access to FUPRE campus by fierce looking armed soldiers and policemen.
The visibly angry protesting students took over the school gate calling for the immediate reinstatement of the suspended Dean of Student Affairs and sack of the Chief Security Officer for failing to provide adequate security.

The serene university community and the emerging Ogbomro Community was jolted by the news of the death of the lively Lateef Babatunde, who many said was a promising young man that was to graduate from the institution in the next few months.
The Governor of the FUPRE Boys Hotel in Ugbomro, where the Late student also resided, Akpomedaye Philip, stated that the victim had barely left the hostel at about 8pm last Thursday, when two deafening gunshots near the hostel were fired.
It is another case of robbery. Babatunde should have been graduating in the next four months. We were together gisting about sports when he excused us to go and fetch some items outside. Barely 30 minutes later he was lying in his pool of blood. His neck was shattered by one of the two gunshots we heard near the hostel.
