Bayelsa: Police Arrest Four In Connection With Kidnap Of Senators Mother

Four suspects have been arrested by the police in Bayelsa State for their roles in the abduction of Madam Fiorentina, the 90-year-old mother of Senator Emmanuel Paulker.

It was learnt that some of the suspects had confessed to the crime and were helping security agencies to track the location of the kidnappers.
The state government on Thursday gave kudos to security agencies in the state, especially the police, for the prompt manner they responded to the incident.
Confirming the arrest of the suspects, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hilary Opara, assured that the nonagenarian would soon be released.
Recall that the victim, who was first kidnapped in 2010, was on Wednesday morning again abducted by unknown gunmen at her residence in Opolo-Epie, Yenagoa.
The state Security Adviser, Lt. Col. Benard Kenebai (rtd), in a statement in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, also confirmed that the urgent response of the security agencies led to the arrest of the four suspects.
Kenebai on behalf of the government, assured security agencies of the needed support in their efforts to free the woman and arrest other suspects.
One of the prime suspects arrested within minutes of the distress call and three others arrested less than six hours later, have all made very useful statements to the police and efforts are on to ensure the prompt and successful release of the victim, he said.
