Armed Robbers Unleashed Mayhem In Bariga

Monday, 28th of July, 2014 will forever remain in the hearts of residents of Popoola and Ore-ofe Streets, in Bariga area of Lagos State as heavily armed robbers took advantage of the festive period to unleash mayhem in the area.

The area which is known for its tight security was invaded by robbers on Monday night due to its relaxed security state during the Eid-el-Fitri celebration causing terrible and indescribable havoc despite the rain.
Vanguard reports that the robbery operation took over three hours which the robbers attacked many residents, stabbing three people. The robbers who took their time, burgled shops, supermarkets, smashed windscreens of cars parked, carefully avoiding houses they know they can be caught with their security despite the Eid holiday.
The robbers who carted away many valuables including money, phones, laptops etc were said to have used a machete on a 25 year old man making him to sustain injury in his head and back but was quickly taken to a nearby hospital immediately the robbers left.
Although the residents claimed that policemen from Pedro Police Division were called during the robbery, they did not show up early to save the situation. Vanguard however reports that a Police source said the policemen got to the scene immediately they were notified. It would be recalled that just recently also, hoodlums suspected to be cult members, attacked residents of Akoka, Lagos State robbing them of their valuables.
